Extreme Engine Tech: Building a BMW S52 – Part 2: The Cylinder Head

,

You would never know this was a 20 year old head. Without these pictures you also would never know the upgrades that have been performed to the valvetrain. Sleeper status.
Head installation isn't rocket science, especially when it comes to you fully assembled. It's a drop in and torque type job. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
The first part of actual work we needed to do once the head was torqued to the block was installing our new lifters into the cam trays.
Nothing more than a quick flick of the cam trays, and we do mean quick otherwise you will find all your lifters scattered in the valley of the head, slide the trays onto their studs.
In preparation for installing our cams we lubed the top of the lifters with some Redline assembly lube.
Don't be afraid to go after it with the assembly lube, it will all be flushed out with the first oil change.
