Feal Suspension 442, The Best Sentra B Chassis Shocks!: Tested on the K24 powered NX2000

Feal Suspension 442 2-way shocks with 14Kg front Swift Springs and 700 lb rear Swift Springs. The rebound damping came set to 15 clicks from full hard. The compression damping 7 clicks from full hard. The starting point for adjustment.

There is no question, looking at facts, figures, and photos simply do not compare to the real thing. When I unboxed the shipment, my like absolutely increased. And when I had the Feal Suspension NX K24 out on the track for a shake-down day – which was a day in which the NX K24 was among the first out on the track and absolutely one of the last off of the track – this like changed to love.  I literally couldn’t believe how awesome this suspension was. Coupled with the K24 drivetrain and Falken RT660 rubber, the NX was amazing. It wasn’t a time to set blistering lap times as this was a shakedown run after several weeks of shop time, but it was absolutely a time to have fun. And the issues that we shook down were minor. Absolutely a testament to the workmanship of AES Auto in completing a meticulous engine swap. Absolutely a testament to an incredible suspension in the Feal 442 kit! The first time I took the car to a curb I wasn’t sure what to expect and instead of the typical bounce that previous suspensions offered, this was a gentle glide! I mean, I seriously was not prepared for that! Wow, it was incredible.

Unboxing the 442 Feal Suspension was incredible. Well packaged and just glistening. It seriously made me want to take my car for a complete undercarriage shampoo!

You already know that I am not a suspension guru. You also need to know that my experience with high-end suspensions has been limited to other cars that I have been fortunate enough to drive and none have been installed on my car. The NX1600 obviously started off life on a factory suspension. This was upgraded to a KYB AGX system with Ground Control coilovers and I think 400 lb front springs and 300 lb rear springs. The car also got Ground Control Camber plates at this time. Back in the day, this was the sought-after suspension for the Nissan B13 platform. I ran this for years and really had an incredibly awesome handling car. Go back far enough in the MotoIQ archives and you’ll find win after win in our time attack class plus a number of records. In fact, a record that Katie, my daughter, set in 2010 at Mosport International Raceway in the Touring 3 class with what is now known as Ontario Time Attack is not only still standing but will persevere for perpetuity. OTA has eliminated the Touring 3 class from the books so this record cannot be altered. Even better, the record that Katie set took place before the extensive paving of runoff areas at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport was renamed) was done. This paving saw multiple class records fall as drivers found extra time as the intimidating Corner 2’s scare factor was reduced. The corner itself wasn’t changed, but now if you put two wheels off you were still on the pavement and not grass. The grass would literally suck you off the track and then into the tire wall several hundred meters downhill and away from the track. This record was set back when the NX was powered by the modified GA16DE powerplant.

This pic goes back over a decade with Katie running the reverse layout of the Mosport Driver Development track. The car had a modified GA16DE engine and KYB AGX’s with Ground Control camber plates. It was a true momentum car and it handled superbly!

  1. Easy to tell that the aero platform will be much improved, as well, in addition to improved grip afforded by the new suspension kit. Removing the front bar should lead to improved traction coming out of corners as well.
I may have missed it, but what are the specs on the new wheels? Looks like they poke a bit more, wondering if that’s leading to some scrub radius challenges, perhaps?
The Island Circuit looks spectacular, we need some onboard video Frank!

    1. My camera game is really off right now. I have virtually no track video from the three outings that I’ve had. Yes – I was out at the track today for the final outing before the NX K24 is stored for the winter. The wheels haven’t changed – Gram Light 15×8 – but the custom LCA’s absolutely push the wheels out/forward. And I need to spend some time adjusting the rear LCA’s to pull them in better! Plus I have to adjust the rear wing. And the splitter angle is off for some reason – perhaps the antifreeze induced spin did an unknown adjustment to my splitter supports.

  2. Awesome to see this car still in action! A little sad to see the SR go, but there’s nothing better than having a track car that just works with no worries.
