Feal Suspension 442, The Best Sentra B Chassis Shocks!: Tested on the K24 powered NX2000

This tab was in the way – a quick email to Mike at Feal Suspension provided me with permission to remove it. I do admit some apprehension to cutting my brand new kit.

This tab is not gone and with it’s removal, lots more room and think of the weight savings. After cleaning up the cut, paint was applied to restore the appearance and maintain the lifespan of the housing.

Opening the box revealed a beautiful system. The front shocks come with 14K Swift springs with helper springs. The rear comes with 700lb Swift springs and helper springs. The helper springs are present to keep the spring stay mounted on the perch when the shock is under zero or no load. (Over the years with my older Coilover setups, I had more than one mechanic tell me that my springs were loose!). The Swift helper spring is designed to have minimal effect on the spring rate of the mainspring. More importantly, the helper springs all around help induce droop and assist with lowering the car further. (Nissan B13 owners will recognize that lowering our cars has all kinds of challenges and, while I’m not going into details here, earlier articles outlined some of the significant changes to the front end to allow the car to be run at a lower ride height.) There was a lot of discussion about the spring rates that involved the weight of the car, the aero, the tires, intended use, and so on. If you’re wondering why the 14K front and the 700lb rear, Mike Kojima really wanted to see 800lb front and 700lb rear; the front springs were 7″ with the rear being 8″. However, Swift only offers metric rates in a 7″ spring (they have a full range in the 8″ length). With the choice being 15K/840lbs and 14K/784lbs the 14 K springs were selected.  Feal bump stops were also provided. The upper spring seat was upgraded to the Radial Bearing upper spring seats – which assists in eliminating spring noise as the wheel turns.

In the past I have had my mounts slotted to allow for greater camber; the Feal Suspension 442’s came with the upper hole already slotted!

  1. Easy to tell that the aero platform will be much improved, as well, in addition to improved grip afforded by the new suspension kit. Removing the front bar should lead to improved traction coming out of corners as well.
I may have missed it, but what are the specs on the new wheels? Looks like they poke a bit more, wondering if that’s leading to some scrub radius challenges, perhaps?
The Island Circuit looks spectacular, we need some onboard video Frank!

    1. My camera game is really off right now. I have virtually no track video from the three outings that I’ve had. Yes – I was out at the track today for the final outing before the NX K24 is stored for the winter. The wheels haven’t changed – Gram Light 15×8 – but the custom LCA’s absolutely push the wheels out/forward. And I need to spend some time adjusting the rear LCA’s to pull them in better! Plus I have to adjust the rear wing. And the splitter angle is off for some reason – perhaps the antifreeze induced spin did an unknown adjustment to my splitter supports.

  2. Awesome to see this car still in action! A little sad to see the SR go, but there’s nothing better than having a track car that just works with no worries.
