The KW 3-way front strut uses an inverted design for strength and stiffness.

The front suspension is also pretty straightforward. Custom fabricated lower control arms allow adjustment of camber, caster and front track width.  The steering knuckle arm is also  interchangeable so Ackerman and steering angle can be quickly and easily changed.  A high mounted Speedway Engineering swaybar is used, with the high mounting allowing easy access for quick adjustment.  A Nissan S13 steering rack is used with a rear mounting.  Like the rear, the front suspension uses KW 3-way Motorsports dampers.  KW is quickly becoming the shock of choice for Top Formula D teams for a reason, they flat out work.

The car uses a steering rack borrowed from a Nissan S chassis.

The brakes use a Tilton pedal box with a balance bar and dual brake master cylinders.  Super light Wilwood calipers are used squeezing lightweight solid rotors on alloy hats.  The rear braking system also incorporate a rear turning brake with an independent caliper that is activated by a master cylinder via a driver controlled lever.  The Wilwood lightweight solid rotor system is becoming standard issue on drift cars.

The Wilwood front brake is a non vented design and thin for light weight.  Drift cars don’t need a lot of brake heat dispersing capacity due to the short nature of a drift battle.

The rear brakes have two calipers controlled independently by the foot pedal and a driver operated hand lever.

The Scion’s carbon wide body is built by Seibon with various carbon scoops and vents done by Brian Kono of Afterhours Automotive.  Motegi lightweight forged TrackLite wheels in 18×10 rear and 18×9 front are shod with Hankook RS3 rubber, 285/35-18 in the rear with 245/35-18 for the front.

Watching Fredric’s overnight climb from privateer to factory guy has been inspiring and seeing him with one of the strongest teams in Formula D means success will come.  With the car shaking off development blues quickly and the car performing better with every round, expect to see Fredric on the podium soon!  You can bet we will be cheering for him both personally and because we want to see a turbo 4 give the V8’s hell!
