LS Fest West Drift Challenge 2021

The last battle of the Top 16 was the 2nd one more time of Amanda Sorensen and Shawn Olin.  Will we finally get a winner?! Sorensen started off with an almost perfect lead run. Olin countered with a near-perfect lead run of his own. Sorensen seemed to have lost focus on the line and had to make up for a 2-3 car gap right off the bat. Sorensen caught up in the later turns, but because of the initial gap her follow was not as high scoring. Giving the win to Olin.

Great 8

The first battle of the Great 8 was Brandon Marcus in the white S13 vs JR Faber in his orange S13. Farber led the first battle. Both had great starts off the line, but Marcus went super wide in turn one while trying to keep up with Farber causing him to lose some points.

For his lead battle, Marcus again went wide in turn one losing more line points while Farber maintained decent proximity and control throughout his follow run resulting in a win for him.

Next up was Micah Diaz vs Robbie Irving.  Diaz lead the pair off the line. They were even through the drag race up to turn 1, but that’s when Diaz pulled away hard. Irving had to shallow up to maintain proximity with the dominant Diaz run.

Irving led the next battle. Diaz showed domination throughout the entire run with the closest proximity of the night. The level of driving Micah showed was well deserving of the W.

Zack Wingfield vs Adam Knapik was the third battle of the Great 8. Knapik lead off the first battle while Wingfield totally straightened up through turns one and two, taking out a bunch of cones and getting left behind to boot.
