Knapik had a solid lead run. It was actually even better than Diaz’ good lead. However, his straightening during his chase run was not going to fare well with the judges.
Knapik’s great lead run was not enough to overcome the errors during his chase and Diaz got the win. Diaz would move forward to the battle that would determine the winner of the Drift Challenge and Knapik solidified his third place position on the podium.
The final battle for first place was Micah Diaz vs JR Faber in the orange S13. Diaz started off in the lead and again had another dominant run. Faber lost control in turn 3 giving Diaz a huge advantage going into what could potentially be the final battle of the night.
Faber took a shallow line through turn one while Diaz kept steady pressure on him through the rest of the course. Diaz just needed to make sure he had a consistent run to ensure he scored enough points to cash in the overall win.
