Nerd’s Eye View: Ducati 1199 Superleggera

,

Akrapovic was tapped to supply the exhaust system.
The system is titanium with some carbon fiber bits of course. Check out the clamps that hold the exhaust together in this segment instead of bolted flanges.
With the engine making around 200hp, a beefy cooling system is required. The coolant reservoir is mounted up high on the right hand side of the bike.
Two radiators are used consisting of an upper and a lower. Attached on backside of the lower radiator is a shroud for the radiator fan.
And here is said radiator fan which dumps the air out the bottom of the bike.
The Superleggera rolls on forged magnesium Marchesini Racing wheels. Yeah, magnesium is lighter than aluminum and more expensive too. I dig the 90 degree valve stem as it can be a pain to attach the hose of a pump when the stem does not have the bend; it takes a little bit of maneuvering on the front wheel due to the two brake discs.
