Pedders eXtreme XA Coilovers – Chevrolet SS Installation & Test Drive

,

With the Front Pedders XA struts now being installed, it was time to work on the rear shocks.

It's nice the rear shock mount bolt heads are on the outside of the car. This way the rear decklid and/or trunk don't have to be taken apart to get to the strut mount. The rear shocks top-mount is the only part of the OE suspension that must be reused with Pedders' coilovers.

This bolt hole on the rear lower control arm is used to mount the bottom of the shock. The hub and lower control arm must be separated in order to gain enough room to remove the stock shock assembly.

The rear MagneRide wiring comes out the top of the factory shock. Since we are reusing the top mount, we will have to disassemble the stock shock to get it.

Unfortunately, MagneRide connector does not fit through the hole on the top of the strut mount, so the pins must be removed from the connector in order to get the strut mount off.

Howard compresses the stock spring to disassemble the stock rear shock.
