2016 PRI Show – Part 1

Each year, as the winter months make their approach, it seems so many tuners, fabricators, and painters in the industry start to fall behind on customers’ projects and deny taking new ones until January. Don’t blame them—they’re getting ready for those two big shows, SEMA and PRI.
You’ve probably seen some of our coverage at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas already. While I’ve enjoyed that show in the past—both as an attendee and as an exhibitor—it’s a little too big for me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an awesome show, and the myriad of stuff going on overloads the senses from start to finish. Everyone you want to see is there, and it’s a phenomenal way to create new business. As an attendee, however, I feel like I have to walk so much to see, skipping over what I have little interest for, which is a lot.
The Performance Racing Industry Show, however, is a concentrated version of SEMA, and all about high performance. It’s held in Indianapolis so, as a resident of Kansas City for the last 11 years (although I did grow up in SoCal), how could I miss it? It’s a little over a 7-hour drive for my wife and I, and since she can finally unload what’s been on her mind for the past year, she likes it too.
The only problem with driving through the Midwest in the late fall is…well…that it’s hard to keep your windshield clean when gas station cleaners are frozen!
Sometimes there are subtle reminders of driving through the Heartland of America, like big trucks. Yes, their Chiefs are red, but their Royals are blue (but we love everyone here at MotoIQ–Padump Psh!).
If there’s one thing the left and the right can agree on—it’s cheap gas prices. In fact I even filled for $1.859 at one station. Alright, I’m really showing you this picture because it was taken in a town called Boonville. No lie. Ok, let’s get on with the show.
