Project 370Z – Stillen Brake Duct Kit Install and Testing

Next was dropping the stock undertray so we could remove some factory plastics to make way for the brake cooling kit parts and eventually remove the front bumper.  Every bolt related to the front undertray is 10mm, so using this low torque impact really helped speed up removal since there are over 20 bolts.  Turn a 10-15 minute removal with hand tools into just a few minutes.  Use the right tool so you never have to work harder then should.
After that, we needed to remove the stock plastic cover in the “fangs” to make room for the cooling hose inlet bracket.  We find the Stillen kit's design clever since it uses the OEM shape of the bumper which is perfect for brake ducts making for a clean and low key modification visually.

Once the stock plastic “fang covers” were off, we had to remove the factory threaded clips to be able to transfer them over to the brake duct inlet brackets so that the OE mounting bolts could be used to attach them to the front bumper.

Another OEM plastic piece that needs to be removed is this small cover between the inside of the front fender liner and the frame rail.  This will give us the space for the ducting to enter the wheel well on its way to the mounting bracket on the knuckle arm.
