Project FR-S: Getting More Grip with Whiteline, Cusco, Rays Wheels and Achilles 123S Tires!

,

Martin sensually greases up the Whiteline transmission mount insert.  You can tell he is good at this.

The insert fills up the air gap in the stock mount perfectly.  We now have the soft rubber for noise and vibration isolation and the hard urethane to limit twist.  The best of both worlds.

The mount is bolted back in place just like that.

By limiting twist the Whiteline bushing will also ensure that the mount will last many times longer than stock.

The stock subframe bushings allow the subframe to really float around, especially with the loads imparted by bigger tires.  The Whiteline bushings fill the air gaps in the stock bushings, limiting movement while still allowing the soft rubber to absorb vibrations.  While supporting the subframe with a jack, we undid the bolts and allowed the subframe to drop.

Then we slipped the Whiteline parts in place after thoroughly greasing them up.

  1. I’m curious to hear your logic for going with the 18″ wheels instead of 17″. The 18’s definitely look better but I know looks alone aren’t enough for MotoIQ.
