The modeling service doesn’t come cheap, but it’s not horribly expensive either. At least you don’t have to buy a rack of servers with hundreds of computing cores. Rob took care of that part.

Rob takes a bunch of measurements of the backside of the vehicle to plug into his fancy computers.

Here Johnny is using my hood prop to take the highest part of the roof line and extend it over the trunk so that Rob can measure the height of the roof in relation to the trunk. The ideal location for the wing is in the airflow that comes off the roof, but sometimes series rules dictate how high the airfoil can be. The phone is being used as an impromptu level.

Yes, Rob is taking a picture of Johnny’s phone with his phone because Rob was using his phone for the measurements. Phonetastic.

Rob takes all of the data, puts it in his magic computer with the photos, and pushes the magic button, and out comes a wing! OK, perhaps it’s a touch more complicated than that.
