The Forging: Tony Angelo’s Scion FR-S – Part 2

Tony Angelo FR-S Cage
While Tony does intend to be safe while drifting in the FR-S, he isn't building an over complicated monster of a cage either. It's a simple, light and effective 6-point. Strong where it needs to be, light where he can afford it to be.

The door bars are NASCAR Style to protect the driver's and passenger's torsos. Though Mike Kojima would prefer to see a bar coming down from the front down tube down to the door bars, like a Rally car or modern NASCAR Stock Car, Tony still has cage above his mid-section.

As Colin demonstrates, a skillful hit of the hammer will make most adjustments easy and quick.

To further strengthen the chassis and reduce body flex, the roll cage is gusseted to the frame. The dimple dies not only make the gussets stronger, but also reduce the gusset's overall weight.

I must say, for someone who's daily grind is controlling cranes, his detailed fabrication skills are top notch. I think Tony found himself a great fabricator for TAngelo Racing. (Colin, that's $50.00 per endorsement. Kidding!)

While I'm sure Panic(Rottweiler) would have no problem turning that hub into a chew toy, I think Tony still needs it.

Awe, Panic, at least those Bloodmasters stayed away and didn't cause a ruckus again! I'm sure Tony will get you a very big bone for you to chew on instead of that nasty hub.
