This year’s Holley LS Fest West was the largest one to date. Holley Performance’s multifaceted Motorsports festival saw a dramatic increase in spectators as well as participants and the action-packed Tire Streets Drift Challenge was no exception. Drivers, builders, and fans traveled from near and far to celebrate the iconic GM engine.
With the largest field of Drift Cars in the 6 years (sans 2020) that Holley has brought LS Fest all the way from their hometown of Bowling Green, KY to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the stage was set for a Top 32 Competition weekend. Friday evening introduced all drivers to their official Practice session followed immediately by Qualifying under the lights.
Drivers from all over the continent with varying backgrounds in Drifting came together for this stacked Competition full of raw talent and chopping small-block Chevy engines. From demo and street-style cars, ProAm and local competition-level builds, all the way to built-to-the-hilt FD ProSpec and Pro class machines – everyone went toe-to-toe in the Vegas heat and under the lights of LS Fest West. It was great to see local drivers hold their own against the Pros!
Ben “The Bulldog” Hobson came all the way from Georgia to debut his new Holley Powered Formula D ProSpec S14.5 and held nothing back, qualifying 1st for Saturday’s Competition.
The Top 32 kicked off Saturday right at noon and finalized the victors’ positions in the Top 16 to take place under the evening’s setting sun. Of the 16 spots, over half of them were occupied by former or current Formula D ProSpec or Pro competitors.
Ben Hobson and last year’s LS Fest Texas Drift Challenge winner, Javi Martinez, were the opening act for Top 16 setting the trend for what would be hours of consistent, door-to-door battles for the rest of the night.
