Nerd’s Eye View: 2013 Performance Racing Industry Show
If you were one of the more than 40,000 sets of eyes that had a chance to read through our first PRI article, here is the sequel. In our previous article we slaved from 8:00AM to 1:30AM to bring you 16 pages of goodness! That meant a whirlwind tour through specific booths and a map of what we needed to cover from start to finish. It also left ZERO time to walk around the show and soak it all in on Thursday. So on Friday and Saturday we strolled to bring you what WE thought was cool, the things that caught our eye, our Nerd's eye….
We begin our NEV with a car named Sick Seconds. This behemoth is a labeled as the Quickest and Fastest street car in America. Up front you can see the custom Air-Water IC setup, radiator, dual Pro Charger bypass valves. This is a tube chassis fiberglass body car that was built to compete in the Hot Rod Magazine Drag Week competition.
Here you can see the Precision 94MM turbo fed by 307.5 cubic inches, 5.0 litres, or 5039 cc's. Multiply that times two and that is what powers this beast down 1,320' in less than 6.99 seconds and greater than 211 MPH. Also of note are the EGT probes in each cylinder of the tubular stainless manifold. In total at 26 PSI this car dynoed an awesome 2,108 WHP.
The interior is all business despite being a “street car”. In all fairness if you are piloting a car capable of this straight line performance the items inside are necessary for your survival. As such it gets an instant pass as a street car. Don't agree? Look at the next picture.
This car was driven to 4 different tracks under its own power towing a trailer for the Hot Rod Magazine drag week. At all 4 tracks it went 6's at over 210MPH. That does a street car make!
