Nerd’s Eye View: LA Auto Show 2014: Part 1 – Street Cars and Show Stuffings

,

Something new to me this year was actually showing up early enough for the Motoring Press Guild breakfast and car show.

I don’t know what this thing is, but it’s awesome!
It might be older than my grandparents, but the basics of the internal combustion engine haven’t changed in over a century. Check out the size of the piston and connecting rod! The piston has a pretty long skirt on it.
The engine may be really really really old, but you can still make out the spark plugs for the cylinders. I think the tube on top of the red cylinder heads is the intake manifold. Underneath that heat shield with all the emblems on it should be the exhaust manifold… I think…. Look at the front of the engine and the leather belts used on the pulleys! The pulley going to the bottom shaft should be spinning the alternator.
Uh…. Well, it still has three pedals. Though I’m not exactly sure what those pedals control. I think the little silver lever in the middle is to adjust the ignition timing and perhaps the brown pull knob is a choke.
