Project DC2 Integra – Addressing Gaskets and Maintenance


Before the timing belt is reinstalled, one final part must be replaced- the water pump. 


The fresh OEM Honda VTEC water pump does not look much different at initial glance, but being that it's new, the seals and bearings are ready for a prolonged amount of street and track miles. 

Everything timing and pulley related can go back into place and clocked correctly. Being mindful of the cam gear orientation is very critical and so is double checking the teeth marks after belt tension has been set. 


With everything on the driver's side of the engine sorted, one final maintenance item remained- fresh VTEC solenoid gaskets. 


A significant amount of oil residue needed to be cleaned since the current gasket was not in good shape.
