Project Do It All S13, Chassis Fabrication part 3 With ZSM Customs

For open-hatch cars, the entire fuel system must be behind a fire shield.  ZSM customs designed this neat cover for the fuel cell on CAD, laser cut it out, and tack welded it together.

Riv nuts are installed in the Radium frame to fasten the cover to it.

Here are the Riv nuts in place.

The cover had these neat drill guides cut into place to ensure perfect placement of the Riv nuts.  Once the Riv nut holes are perfectly drilled, the guide simply breaks out with some needle nose pliers.

Here is the slot for the bolts.  Button head fallen bolts hold the cover down.  To remove the cover they can simply be loosened then the cover will just slide off.

The fit is perfect!
