If you walk right up to the diffuser and specifically look for any fitment issues, you will probably see a couple. But they won't be obvious. On a glance it appears we got the diffuser to fit pretty well. Now we just have to spend a little time getting the Magnaflow exhaust to line up better. While the pipes don’t touch the diffuser, thank goodness, the tips are still about a half-inch too far to the right. UPDATE: we now have a new exhaust system on the car, and it confirms that the Khoalty rear diffuser fits very nicely. More info in Part 15.
To remind us of what the car looked like prior to the diffuser install, the difference is quite remarkable. I love the look of the new diffuser. It makes the original setup look pretty plain by comparison.
Here’s another peek at the diffuser. It looks good on the car, and compliments our front Bav Auto splitter perfectly. Also notice how the Khoalty diffuser looks in relation to our staggered Magnaflow exhaust tips, which line up nicely.
Speaking of Bav Auto, something we’ve had on the car for a while—but were waiting for our “exterior aesthetics” article to be written before discussing—is a pair of LED taillights, which give the car a more updated look. It actually updates the look to that of the 2004-2006 model E46 M3s. Our Project E46 M3 is a 2002.
Having had a set of LED taillights on my previous E36 M3 from Bavarian Autosport that worked flawlessly, I was hoping for the same quality with these for our E46 M3. They’ve been on the car for most of year, and so far so good! They are also impressively bright.
