Project E46 M3: Part 10 – Exterior upgrades for a cleaner look

,

When pulling it apart, be careful with the two wires connected.  Disconnect these before completely removing the mirror from the housing.

We also removed the inner ring, which won’t be needed anymore.

The only disappointing part was where the connections were located on the new mirrors, which were on the opposite side of the glass, rendering the factory wiring too short.  No worries, though—a little extra wiring, some cutters, some heat-shrink wrap and a heat gun, and we were good to go in a matter of a few extra minutes.

Here’s the new Khoalty-supplied mirror glass installed—and no rusty-looking spots!
Here we can see how some of the changes have nicely transformed the look of the car. We're pretty happy with how it's turning out so far.  Project M3 simply looks just like that “next step up” in the BMW lineup.

Stay tuned for Part 10.  We tested Castro Motorsports’ CSL-style intake manifold on Modified by KC’s dyno!  You’re welcomed to place your horsepower-gain bets in the comments section below.  The person who guesses the closest gets a big, sloppy and wet kiss from Mr. Kojima (hey, you should consider it an honor).
