We wanted to retain the stock heat shield but the Full Race manifold did not have provisions for it. Howard fabricated a simple bracket to hold the heat shield down. |
A little fitting and the bracket is done. |
The install is clean, tidy and stock looking. There is no hint of the power lurking here! |
Naji Dahi of Looney Tuning once again helped us with tuning the stock ECU. Besides correcting the fuel and timing maps, we also advanced both the intake and exhaust cams. We did not change the boost pressure other than the improved boost at lower RPM from the manifold. |
The Full Race Pro Stock manifold was impressive, it gave us another 15 lb/ft of torque and 14 hp with gains across the board. What the dyno chart does not show is that the manifold really increased the turbo response and thus throttle response. The car really feels lag free and zingy, more so than the dyno chart seems to show. The car is really impressive, a whole different car from stock! |
Our gains to date are pretty good for simple bolt ons. Since inception we have gained 70 lb/ft of torque and 118 whp! The car has been transformed. We feel that it will be completely reliable at this level. The tuning is very conservative with little to no knock count. This is way better than stock! The car is much more responsive with better driveability than stock. We feel that this is how the car should have come from the factory! |
With impressive gains in power and improved driveability, we have also been happy to observe an increase in fuel economy over stock with our car consistently getting 20-25 mpg in mixed driving. In the near future, we will be looking for new things to do for our motor in order to reach 400 whp!
