Project Focus ST – Working on the basics with Eibach, Falken Tires, Rotiform and KW Suspension

,

The front Variant III coilover is a thing of beauty, stainless body and all.  The strut mounts by clamping into the spindle like a lot of German cars.  This is very strong way to mount the strut but it makes installation a lot harder because the spindle must be removed to get the strut in.  Typical German, better but harder to work on…. The shock has a tender spring and a dust cover with a soft progressive microcellular urethane bumpstop.
The front compression adjuster is found on the bottom of the strut.  Newer KW's have this larger, easier to turn adjustment knob, a big improvement from the small allen screw of the older production shocks.

The rear shock also has a corrosion resistant stainless steel body and a large easy to use compression damping adjuster knob.  A dustcover and a microcellular bumpstop are employed here as well.
On older KW's with this sort of compression adjuster, you had to get a pintle tool and use it to turn a small wheel with holes in it.  This star shaped billet knob is way easier to use with just your fingers.

Even pros like Technosquare's Howard Watanabe read instructions.  It's probably why Howard makes way less mistakes than we do!
Up on the lift and wheels off, it's time to get installing!
