Project Focus ST – Working on the basics with Eibach, Falken Tires, Rotiform and KW Suspension

,

The complete rear suspension is now good to go!

Our friend Bakkari who owns the car is the tallest guy we know.  Look how my head comes up to his mid chest.  He somehow fits comfortably in the Focus!

Lowering the car about 1.5 inches really improves how it looks among other things!  The Focus ST is an evolution of the Sport Compact market.  Look Toyota Honda and Nissan, this is what you should be doing, making desirable small cars instead of shitboxes.

With the suspension and tires, our Focus ST is much easier to drive.  Body roll and understeer arevgreatly reduced.  The ride is firmed up but still quite good, although firmer, it has the classic KW lack of float without being harsh feel.  NVH has not increased for daily driving.

With the additional traction corner exit grip is much better and wheelspin has been reduced.  Our only complaint is that there is a lot of pounding wheelhop that existed in the stock car.  We will be working to reduce this in the future.  We also anticipate that once we hit the track we can tune the suspension to work even better given the tremendous flexibility of the KW's.

Stay tuned, in future installments we will work to reduce the wheelhop, fix the Focus ST's major weak point: the brakes and best of all gain some power!
