Project Focus ST – Working on the basics with Eibach, Falken Tires, Rotiform and KW Suspension

,

The KW Variant III has a much shorter body than the stock strut so the car can be lowered without losing bump travel.

The upper spring seat adapts the stock strut top to a small diameter coil over spring.  Since this is a high mile accumulating daily driver we will not be using pillow ball mounts and camber plates as these are higher wear items that also increase the car's NVH.  We want to keep the car as streetable as possible for those long Newport Beach to Fontana daily commutes.  We will trade off some ultimate performance for keeping the driver sane as every day is a road trip!

The front strut tower brace has a solid steel cap over the top of the strut.  We had to drill a hole in it so we could reach the rebound adjuster without disassembling too much.

Here is how our adjustment port looked after we finished it.  KW provides a special tool for performing rebound adjustments.

The KW Struts have OEM like tabs to securely hold the brake lines and wheel speed sensors.

Everything in the front is now is bolted up and ready to rock!
