Preparing to install the FIC spacers.
The spacers were bolted up to the car and the nuts torqued down. A plus is that the FIC spacers are hub-centric.
When the spacer is installed, the stock studs protrude past the spacer in the case of thinner 10mm spacers like the ones we wanted to run. Sometimes this can be a problem when it comes to fitting the wheel in place.
Some aftermarket wheels (including some variants of our SSR SP-4 wheel) have reliefs on the backside of the mounting surface of the wheel that can clear the ends of the stock studs. Our version of the SP-4 had some pocket but not enough to clear the stock wheel studs, so we needed to trim them down.
An old lug nut made a perfect guide for us to cut down the stock wheel studs. Since we were going to APR studs later, we didn’t have any qualms about cutting our stock studs.
