Sneak Peek- Matt Coffman’s 2015 Formula Drift Nissan S13

,

Man this car looks damn good!  The Coffman Racing S13 is one of the best S Chassis drift cars ever built.
The car digging in and lifting the front end out of turn 9 on Media day. The car is impressively hooked up.

Here Matt is running with Robbie Nishida. After pulling off an upset win in the Top 32 over Forrest Wang, the top qualifier, Matt was beaten by veteran driver Nishida in the Top 16. Not bad for a young privateer driver with a new car and a new team on their first competition outing and a vast improvement over last year's performance.
It looks like Matt is pleased with the result with his new car.  Look for Matt to do much better this year and as he gets more experience, look for some top finishing positions in the future!

We were very impressed with Matt's S13 and its performance, we feel that 2015 will be a much better year for the team and as they gather more experience with the different tracks on the FD circuit and continue to improve.

FD in 2015 is a much different arena than just two years ago. It is highly competitive and the level of driving skill and car preparation has greatly increased to the point that just about anyone who qualifies for the Top 32 has a chance at the podium. A lot of this is due to FD's driver development programs brought about by Pro Am and Pro 2 feeder series and a lot is the result of the natural progression of the sport.

It is getting more and more difficult for the kid with a beat up car running at drift days with a dream to become a top pro nowadays but Matt's team is a good example of where hard work and good organization can get you, even at a young age.  Look for the team to progress in the near future.
