TESTED: Steeda Anti Wheel-Hop Package

,

Steeda subframe braceThe Steeda Mustang IRS Subframe Support Braces are made from 4120 chromoly steel and designed to triangulate the chassis to the subframe for a significant increase in stiffness. This is crucial for handling consistency under load as well as reducing wheel hop.

Steeda advertises that their Ultimate “Stop the Hop” Kit greatly stiffens the bushings and reduces movement without increasing NVH.

Steeda chose to forgo the adjustable toe links in their kit in favor of their Adjustable Differential Bushing Insert System (p/n: 555-4439). This kit comes with 2 different bushing options: a red ‘street’ 80-durometer bushing insert, and a black ‘performance’ 90-durometer bushing insert.  Unlike many diff bushing upgrades that take hours to cut out the stock bushing and greatly increase NVH, Steeda’s diff bushing inserts take minutes to install and act like their subframe bushing inserts by encapsulating the stock bushing to limit flex without sacrificing driveability.  Best of all, this bushing is 100% reversible and easily changed from the red ‘street’ to black ‘performance’ bushings to fine tune the trade-off between performance and comfort.

Steeda Diff Bushing InsertsSteeda’s Diff Bushing Insert System can be quickly and easily changed from street (red) to performance (black) or removed all together without cutting, drilling, or modifying the stock diff bushing.

We stopped by RareFab to install our new Steeda Parts. After putting the car on the lift and removing the wheels, we got to work starting with the vertical links.

S550 Stock Integral LinkThe stock vertical link (aka: Integral Link) is made from stamped steel and has rubber bushings on both ends. Loosening two bolts makes for an easy removal.
Stock vs Steeda Vertical LinkNext to the stock vertical link, the Billet Aluminum Steeda link is substantially beefier (it looks like an aluminum connecting rod) and with steel and Delrin bushings, there’s virtually zero deflection unlike the stock link.
