Once installed, the Steeda Autosports S550 Replacement Clutch Spring gives the Mustang a slightly heavier pedal with more feel. The pedal stroke is fairly consistent throughout the travel and the slight increase in resistance makes modulating the clutch in some ways easier. The Steeda spring improves the occasion of driving and makes the clutch and overall car feel more sports-car like rather than an over-assisted grocery-getter.

It by no means makes the clutch a workout nor does it increase the effort to the level of even the lightest heavy-duty aftermarket clutch for the Mustang (or most cars for that matter). Instead, the slight increase in effort and feel is more in line with the ethos of a 435hp 5.0L V8 sports car.

If you tend to be the type of person who never puts on an aftermarket exhaust, and who drives the car in the “Comfort” Steering assist setting, this may not be the product for you. But if you want to improve the feel of the clutch for less than $20, it’s definitely worth the price to give it a try, plus it is a quick 5-minute change and completely reversible.
