Our heads received some of Supertech’s manganese bronze valve guides. These guides have a lot more lubricity than the OEM iron guides for less friction and longer life. The Supertech guides can be run at tighter tolerances for less oil consumption and better more consistent sealing between the valves and valve seats. The guides have shaped ends for better port flow. Supertech valve seals are low friction, heat resistant, and still seal well for low oil consumption. The intake seals have more tension to keep oil out of the intake ports while the exhaust seals can tolerate higher temperatures.
We used Kelford valve springs, seats, and retainers for our valvetrain. These match our Kelford 199-C cams. For improved fatigue life and less wear with the springs and retainers we WPC treated all of these parts.
Once we fitted new OEM cam followers, we WPC treated them as well for less friction.
For camshafts, we used Kelford’s 199-C grind. These cams have 268 degrees of intake duration with 10.50mm of lift. The exhaust side has 264 degrees of duration on the exhaust side and 10.25mm of lift. With a smaller displacement, we don’t want to go overboard with our camshaft selection.
We also got some of IAG’s TGV deletes. These parts allow the clean removal of the TGV valve assembly. They are CNC machined from billet aluminum.

I’m surprised that your high-mileage S20 heads were rebuildable. No cracking in the spark plug thread area?
If it was cracked it wouldn’t be used.
Do you have any recommendation on A machinist that can duplicate this work ? Or if I can get this same work
We can do it for you. Go to the garage services link and get a quote.
199K is so much more like what these engines should have, beautiful.
Love the cam choice. I definitely feel like these motors are often undercammed given their displacement. Where are you looking for the powerband to be?
4-8k rpm
Cost to do your build on 2016 Forester XT? Do you build transmissions? Svt now how much
Surprised you went with a 10mm oil pump and not an 11.
Is it possible to do this rebuild or similar one with 205 ?
Yes
Im from Europe and I would like to rebuild 2.0 turbo 130kw (EJ205) Forester SG motor. Is it possible to have any consultations via email etc ?? It is not possible for me to ship my engine to USA and then back.
