The Rest of the Engine for Project WRX

EJ oil pump pickups are famous for breaking and causing catastrophic engine failure. We know a few engines that have failed this way.  To prevent this from happening we are using Killer B’s Ultimate oil pickup. This part should be mandatory for any EJ engine build.

The Ultimate Oil Pickup uses beefy 0.12” thick double support brackets to prevent the pickup from moving around and fostering cracks.  The oil pickup tube thickness is three times thicker than stock and a brace between bracket and oil pickup tube to further strengthen the assembly. This part is many times stronger than stock and should never fail no matter how hard the use.  The pickup screen has the OEM mesh size but is designed for higher flow.

The Ultimate oil pickup has smoother bends than stock for better flow potential.  It also uses an o-ring against the case for a positive seal.  The pickup fits EJ20’s with EJ25 pans, EJ25’s and all engines with the Killer B oil pan. As we said, the pickup should be mandatory for any performance-driven Subaru, even if your engine isn’t built, it’s worth pulling your pan to install one.

With a solid list of parts, all we have to do is assemble the engine and get it into our WRX, stay tuned!

  1. I’m surprised that your high-mileage S20 heads were rebuildable. No cracking in the spark plug thread area?

  2. Love the cam choice. I definitely feel like these motors are often undercammed given their displacement. Where are you looking for the powerband to be?

      1. Im from Europe and I would like to rebuild 2.0 turbo 130kw (EJ205) Forester SG motor. Is it possible to have any consultations via email etc ?? It is not possible for me to ship my engine to USA and then back.
