The Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building, by a lot. It’s not just a little taller than everything else but like 800 feet taller. It is nearly a kilometer tall! It is so amazing that it looks fake. I have been to the World Trade Center, the Sears Tower and the Toronto CN Tower in my life and nothing comes close to this. |
Look at all of these high rise buildings. These are all 100 story things that would normally be super tall in any other part of the world. You can also sorta see the Bellagio killing fountain a bit in the background. |
Walking out of the Mall of the Emirates, you are at the base of the Burj Khalifa. It is so tall, it looks like something out of science fiction and seems fake. |
We wanted to go to the top. If you make reservations weeks ahead, you can go up for $30 but if you want a VIP pass, it costs $130 which is a lot but this is one of the fucking engineering marvels of the world so we just had to go up there. The express elevator travels at 32 feet per second and you can make it to the top pretty quick. Your ears pop. |
At the top! Remember the huge ass hotel? Looks like a toy down there. How about the huge pool? A little kiddie pool. Look at the huge Mall of the Emirates to the left, it looks like a regular building. This sucker is so tall it’s mind blowing. No other building comes close. |
All of those other skyscrapers are tiny from up here! |
Electronic telescopes help you spot things. The sky is blue up there because you are above all of the silty air. |
I wanted to take the world’s highest piss and here it is! Note the hose for washing your butt. All bathrooms in this region have butt washing hoses. People are seriously into having clean butts around here. |
Back on the ground, the Mall of the Emirates has the world’s largest fish tank inside. |
Oakley sponsors Dai so they get a plug here. |
The Mall also has the worlds largest indoor ski slope. This thing is like a quarter mile long! Huge! They seem really into having the biggest of everything around here.
We say goodbye to Dubai and get ready to go to the airport for the brutal 16 hour flight home. We have not slept for two days at this point. |
Now the car and equipment are getting shipped to Qatar for another Formula D event in two weeks. We are tasked with getting a new engine built, shipped to the middle east and installed in the car for the next event. Can the team do it? Stay tuned!
