Extreme Engine Tech: Building the Ultimate K24 Part 2 The Bottom End!

,

The rod bearing is lubed.

The cylinder walls are lightly lubed.

Now a mallet handle is used to tap the piston into the bore.  If it hangs up around the rings, stop and figure out whats going on, forcing it in may damage the rings and more.

Be careful when getting the last bit of the piston in the cylinder so the rods won’t scratch the crank journals.

Some lube is squirted into the oil supply hole in the crank and we’re now ready to install the rod caps.

  1. Cool to see you guys using the newer k24 blocks, wished you used the head too because I wanted to see what works. I’m building a k24z3 and saw that you cut off the balance shafts, by retaining the stock oil pump system means I can still use the bottom location oil filter correct?
