As I was walking into the 2025 LA Auto Show around six months ago, I came across Larry Chen’s camera car before the sea of food trucks and a slew of EVs. It actually forebode a bit the variety of vehicles at the show with various appendages and big power.

This suction cup is the beefiest I’ve ever seen. At least I think it’s a suction cup and not a mount that’s just drilled through the hood. The clamp has a TUV sticker on it, so it’s good enough for the Germans.

That mounts have to be strong to support this rig. The camera mount has a bunch of through-shaft dampers and weights to keep the camera steady while the car is bouncing around.

Out by the food trucks, Rivian had a couple of their vans on display and a couple rows of cars for test rides.

I had this yummy combo for breakfast.

Get ready for the incoming wave of autonomous vehicles. Tensor had a car on display to showcase their Level 4 autonomy system. The system uses a bunch of cameras and a lidar unit on the roof to keep from hitting things.
