Then a small bracket on the front cross member that blocks access to some of the pans bolts has to be removed.
All of the 10mm bolts holding the pan to the block are now removed.
Once the pan is free, a thin pry bar is inserted in between the block and the pan and the pan is pried off. This may have to be done in several spots around the perimeter of the pan.
Now the pan can be removed!
The stock F20 and F22 has an effective windage tray which helps return oil to the pan’s sump and frees up power by reducing the density of the windage cloud flying off the crank. This way the crank can cut through the oil cloud being flung of the crank at high rpm easier with less drag. The windage tray also helps the oil to return to the pan faster.
We scraped off the old sealer from the blocks pan rails.
