Preventing S2000 Oiling Issues with Canton

Once we scraped off the majority of the sealer, we used some scotchbrite to clean off all the residue.

The block side is now clean and ready to install the pan. At this point, you need to inspect the pan to see if the pan interferes with the windage and trim the windage tray if it does. You should also see if the oil pump pick-up interferes with the oil pan baffles and trim the baffle if it does.

We laid down a bead of sealant taking care to fully surround each bolt hole.

Here is the pan with the sealant applied.

When you compare the Canton pan on the left vs the stock pan on the right, you can clearly see the Canton’s baffles vs the stock pan with no baffles. You can also see where the extra capacity comes from as well.

When you install the Canton pan, check the fit of the oil pump pickup to the baffle. Some cars have the pickup in a slightly different position and it will just barely touch.  We could have trimmed the baffle but decided to just quickly bend it since we already had the sealant on the pan rail.  So when you install yours check before you put the sealant on! It is only a small amount of trimming if needed.
