PRI 2016: Part 4

,

ERL Performance had this real mean C7 corvette sitting in its booth. When I saw it, I was sure to have seen it driving around Kansas City earlier this year because it had a very distinct look, and I right away had noticed the drag radial tires. I couldn’t confirm it until just today (while writing this article) after flipping through an issue of Street Race magazine. This car on the cover, and the article revealed the fact that car owner Justin Keith indeed lives in the KC area. He's also the founder of Street Car Takeover, known formerly as KC2K13.

Under the Vette’s hood is an ERL Performance-built 427ci with a a ProCharger F1A-94 supercharger making 1021whp with 960 lb-ft of torque with a 100-shot of nitrous. And yes, I saw this car driving around in the shopping district of downtown Kansas City while leaving my day job one day.

Putting the power down are the unmistakable Nitto drag radials. If this car looks familiar to you, too, maybe because it's the red Corvette you see on the right side of this page when the Deatschwerks ad comes up! The car rocks a DW fuel system.

The ultimate Vette at the show was the factory C7.R endurance racer driven by British-born Oliver Gavin and American Tommy Milner (son of Tom Milner, who founded Prototype Technology Group, a.k.a. PTG Racing—remember those cool GT3 E36 BMW M3 widebody racers of the late 90s?).

This C7R was raced in the LMGTE Pro class of the 24 hours of Le Mans. While it did poorly at La Sarthe, the #4 car won the 12 hours of Sebring twice as well as the Weathertech Sportscar Championship, both in the GTLM class.
