PRI 2016: Part 4

,

The Corvette’s windows were closed, but we managed to slide our phone inside a small opening so we could catch a glimpse of the all-business interior.

Sticking to the Chevrolet theme, it’s a good time to show you the Chevrolet Performance booth, which is always one of the best at PRI. We won’t show you all of the factory engines again this year (but if you want to see them, check out our PRI 2015 coverage). Let’s check out Chevy’s new COPO program mustang racer.

The factory drag cars from Chevy’s COPO program can be purchased with various packages, including three different engine sizes that align with NHRA’s various Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes. These include the 410hp 6.2-liter, a 470hp 7.1 liter (427ci), and a 580hp 5.7-liter (350ci) supercharged V8, which is what you see in this picture.

I was rather curious to find such a high output engine in the Chevy Performance booth. It’s a 540c.i. (8.8-liter!) engine with a blow-thru APD carb, belt driven fuel system, and Moroso wet sump oiling system. The F-1X-12 ProCharger blower brings the total power to over 2100hp! The engine was presented by SDPC (Scoggin Dickey Parts Center).

This Harley Davidson motorcycle was one of the very few motorcycles that caught my attention, and it was in the GMS Racing Engines booth.
