Project Corvette Stingray C7 Z51: Body Modification

,

The corners have bolt on rear spoiler extensions that work like a Gurney Flap to spoil rearward lift with minimal drag penalty. “Stage 2” rear spoiler extensions that are approximately 1.75 inches taller than the one pictured above are also available. In addition to increased downforce, they are also a lot more aggressive looking.

Here is a top view of the spoiler extensions.

Chevrolet Performance provided these rear vent scoop extensions for the ducts feeding the transaxle and differential coolers.

The ducts start on the top of quarter panels, and on the Z51, feed the coolers and exit out the back of the car. The scoop extensions are the same as those used on the Z06 and force additional air into the coolers.

We also installed this Z06 grille assembly from Chevrolet Performance. The Z51 package provides ducts to the front brakes that funnel air from behind the grille to the brake themselves. With this grill, the ducts extend to these large scoops in both lower corners of the grille. The scoops are big and grab more cooling air to feed to the ducts.

There are two different part numbers, one with and another without the forward-facing cameras. Our car has the cameras, so you can see the provisions for them here. You can also see the scoop details.

  1. Hey Mike, thanks for the putting this build together. Just picked up a 2015 Z51 Stingray LT3 and looking to improve it. If you guys have a build sheet / part numbers / links / etc, please share. Thanks much.
