Just a little bit different than the Mitsubishi engine bay from our time attack program.

The interior of the F430 Challenge car is stripped of all the accoutrements from the street version.  FIA-spec cage, Sabelt race bucket and six-point harnesses are now standard fare.

The F430 Challenge features ABS-equipped Brembo aluminum monobloc calipers with 380mm carbon ceramic (CCM) rotors in the front.

For our first Ferrari Challenge test we jumped on board with three open test days at Buttonwillow because we’re familiar with the facility and the course is safe enough with good runoff and no car-eating walls.

We used the same familiar “time attack” CW13 configuration.

During the second day of the test a storm rolled through causing a rain delay.  Ferrari Challenge races do run in the wet and Pirelli offers a spec rain tire but we did not risk a wet session given that it was John and Frank’s first time at B-Dub.
