Although Kyle’s car with its light weight and high power is very fast, its short wheelbase and hyper high boost small displacement engine make it a handful to drive. The car is great but it is difficult to get consistent results in when compared to larger slightly cars with easy to drive large displacement high torque and fat powerband engines.
For the 2019 season, look for Kyle to return with his older RX-8 which is currently getting rebuilt with the technology used on the MX-5. The larger and longer RX-8 should be able to put the power down better and help Kyle get more consistent with the scoring.
The MX-5 is not going away, it is going to be kept together and will become Kyle’s back up car. The MX-5 is currently one of the most complex of the Pro Drift cars on the FD circuit and it will be exciting to see it’s innovations, power, and reliability applied to the new chassis.
Look for Kyle to make some waves in 2019!
