We can't talk about the USGP without giving a shout-out to the support races, which are as fun to watch (if not more so, sometimes) as the main event. The 458 Challenge series features dozens of modified 458s tearing up the track, as seen here around Turn 19. Go, Hot Wheels! |
Another popular race series presented here was the Porsche GT3 Cup. Look at how many people are watching this at 10:30am Sunday (F1 race didn't start until 1pm!). Oh, you see that red/white Porsche in second place? That's Madison Snow of Utah. Why is this important? The guy is 16 years of age and won the race! |
Probably everyone's favorite support event was the Historic GP cars. Formula 1 cars from the sixties through the early 80s were featured, including this Ferrari once driven by 3-time world champion Niki Lauda. |
Mario Andretti's Formula 1 car. He was the 1978 World Champion, in case you didn't know. |
Or the infamous, once-banned six-wheeled Tyrrell driven by Patrick Depailler. |
