The next battle was ex-FD Pro driver and long-time local hero Blaze Potts vs Pedro Fernadez. Blaze dominated his lead run opening up a huge gap and throwing down a clean line with a lot of angle.
In the following, Blaze easily kept up with Pedro even though Pedro laid down a solid lead.
I remember Blaze from back in the day when he was a privateer in FD. I was always rooting for him because as a privateer he had a limited budget compared to our factory Falken team but he always drove well. Blaze has been driving the same car for years and he still runs it although his car seems to be underpowered compared to modern Pro-Am cars. Remember this car was built around 2009 and it probably hasn’t changed much since then. Blaze advanced.
Next up to close out the top 16 was Drift League Alumni John Schafer vs Vegas local Ryan Jacobson. John totally dominated in his lead run with an enormous gap, can I say crushing?
John was very strong in his follow as well with great proximity.
Man, Ryan’s car looks just like Rome’s new livery!
Look how close John is in chase in the last turn. John advanced easily.

Looks like there’s about a 25% increase in Corvettes in drifting each year. Can’t blame them. Other than the transaxle being hard to work on, they’re a great paltform.
