Performance Racing Industry 2014: PART 3

,

Just two nights ago, I caught an episode of Street Outlaws on the Discovery Channel after my wife went to sleep (hey, it’s the only time I can watch it).  I’d never seen the show before but I was not only instantly hooked, I recognized this car here—a 1982 Hurst Edition Oldsmobile Cutlass, known as “the Cutty”, which is driven by John Andrade, Jr.

The car features a 408 cubic inch (6.7-liter) V8 force fed by a 94mm turbo from Forced Inductions.  It also features Wiseco pistons and PRC 225 heads.  These guys aren't messing around.

AP Racing has always had a sweet line of braking products.  In the foreground is a 15.5-in (394mm) 6-piston brake kit.  What I didn’t know is that they also makes racing clutches, like the carbon-carbon triple plates we see behind.

If you’ve been living under a rock, perhaps you should know that AP Racing is huge in the Motorsports world.  In fact, it boasts 30 champions using its brake system across the motorsports world.  And if you’re looking for that last bit of performance with no expense spared, check out this AP GT Race brake setup with carbon ceramic disc and lightweight hat.

AP’s new design for 2015 is its Radi-CAL caliper, which features an asymmetrical design to counteract all of the flex forces.  They can be found on some NASCAR cars today.
