Performance Racing Industry 2014: PART 3

,

If 1750hp isn’t enough for one turbo, PTE offers a monstrous unit featuring a 118mm compressor wheel (that’s the inducer!  That’s 4.6 inches!!!) and G trim turbine wheel with a 1.50 AR, which is good for an incredible 2800hp!  The compressor wheel exducer diameter is also a laughable 150mm (5.9-in).

By now you may be aware that we've got a PTE turbo in our Project Supra, which is running great.  We've been able to easily exceed 800whp with one of PTE's 67-mm turbos on E85.

Here is the engine that holds the NHRDA (Diesel) quarter-mile record, with a smoking 6.466 @ 225.3 MPH.  The twin-stage turbo setup, which also uses a PTE turbo and another with a PTE compressor wheel, is good for a rated 2500 hp (and I assume a boatload more torque).

Here’s another angle of this crazy looking motor.  The Top Diesel NHRDA dragster was built by Dan Scheid and is driven by Jared Jones.

There seemed to be a plethora of stuff for the LS engine folk.  Here’s a clean 102-mm setup from Top Speed Performance.

While at first we weren’t totally sold on Clamptite’s hose clamp maker, the fact that it has been reportedly tested to 360 PSI—hose-to-hose—had our attention.  This would be a great tool to have at the track for some quick fixes.  Clamptite also reports that the rounded edges of the wire won’t pierce the hose.
