PRI 2015: Part 2

With a pair of monster turbochargers from Precision Turbo and Engine, it's no wonder this “street legal” racer ripped the quarter in 6.0 @ 250+mph this last September on its first day, shredding the Hot Rod Drag Week record set the year before!the amount of air in the combustion chamber is so much that it requires a 44-amp MSD Pro Mag 44 ignition system to light it. These are the sames ones used in Top Fuel (only they use two of them since they have 16 spark plugs). With so many V8-powered muscle cars at the show, it’s also nice to catch a European racecar here and there. This 991 GT3R was featured at the Performance Friction booth. It's rated at 500bhp and weighs only 2733-lb!Check out that aero! Although, with a rear engined car you probably will want as much rear downforce as possible at high speed. The 991 GT3R will be driven by Cooper MacNeil (2012 GTC ALMS Champion) as well as Leh Keen, a 3-time winner of the “Historic Six Hours at the Glen” race.In 2014, the Porsche factory teams switched from Brembo to Performance Friction for its GT3 cup cars. This car is sporting the same PFC six-piston forged calipers up front…
