Project GD STI, Getting Ready For the Engine Swap

We are using COBB’s Overflow Tank and Washer Reservoir filler to clean up your engine bay and gain additional room for our front mount intercooler piping. It helps to clean up the engine bay and tuck the overflow tank lower and out of sight. Constructed of aluminum and powder coated in a wrinkle black finish, it helps keep the engine bay tidy. The Washer Reservoir consists of a filler tubing extension, Delrin base, and Delrin cap. It is specific for 2006-2007 WRX/STI which has the reservoir located behind the bumper cover right in the way of our Greddy front mount intercooler’s charge tubing.

As you can see we have done a thorough and careful job of considering a bunch of well-matched parts to address all of our Subarus weaknesses.  With our moderately sized Precision Turbo,  We are hoping we can get our power in the high 400’s while maintaining great driveability and minimal lag with good throttle response.  Something like what our Project Evo IV does.  With our influx of well-designed parts, our reliability should be definitely not Subaru-like!

The final parts of our Project STI rebirth are coming, we are planning to add a larger IAG Performance drive by wire throttle body and a stock throttle location (so we can keep the AC), and a larger plenum Process West Intake manifold.

  1. Love all the updates, and that its all finally coming together!

One word of caution is any pitch stop mount, from the aftermarket, seems to just perfectly resonate the factory firewall.

If you have the chance getting a good CLD layer in and as high up as possible on the firewall surrounding that immediate area in-cabin, opposite the mount will make a dramatic difference in reducing NVH. If only 50% of the firewall were covered, that is enough. e.g. 4-5sqft total. Minimal weight added, but very targeted to that part. SecondSkin, Resonix, Dynamat Extreme are all good examples of quality CLD tiles that can handle heat and not put off a strong smell.

  2. Can’t wait to see this all come together. Best wishes for reliability and longevity. HP per dollar spent be damned lol

  3. Any picks of install of the COBB’s Overflow Tank and Washer Reservoir filler? I am interested in that kit and install.
