Project Unpimp My Ride: Pedders Easyfit Suspension and Swaybars, Street Performance for the Toyota86/BRZ/FR-S

,

The first step to install the Pedders sway bar is to install these reinforcement pieces to the factory sway bar mounts.

The factory mounts are exceedingly weak and tend to bend even with moderately stiffer bars. These brackets make for a more reliable mount and will transfer more torsional force through the bars without wasting resistance by bending the brackets.

Next, the bar bolts to the modified factory mounts.

Next, the factory end links bolt up. We installed the bar with the end links in the stiffer inner hole.

The front swaybar installation is a little more involved. The swaybar brackets bolt to these subframe extensions. The extension front mounting bolts need to be removed and the rear loosened to tilt the extensions forward so the bar can be slid out.

Howard then loosens the swaybar brackets and removes the bolts. The bar than then is slid forward and removed.

The Pedders bar is 21mm in diameter up from the stock 18mm. This equates to about a 59% increase in stiffness over stock.
