Nerd’s Eye View: SEMA 2014 Part I

,

This Corvette Daytona Prototype underwent extensive aerodynamic changes in order to compete in the Tudor series with LMP2 cars.
A big front splitter and canards on the corners contribute to the aero downforce package. The orange layer underneath the splitter takes a beating and should be replaceable. Wire mesh covers up the openings in the front bumper to prevent chunks of tire rubber, rocks, grass, and red solo cups from clogging anything.
As is common practice with LMP cars, openings above the tires are required. At each corner of the base of the windshield is an air duct. What does it feed? Good question. A guess might be an air conditioning system.
Big BBS wheels cover big AP Racing brakes.
Looking through the bodywork opening above the rear tire, you can see how open the back of the bodywork is on the car. The engine gets fed air though the scoop seen here at the base of the rear windshield, in front of the wing mounts.
There is nothing particularly special about the rear wing being a 2-element design with the wing mounts having a chamfered trailing edge. The endplates do extend a fair amount downwards to improve the efficiency of the wing. The rear bodywork has a spoiler on the trailing edge as part of the aero package.
