Project Civic EF Racecar: Part 3 – Preparation For First MPTCC Race

,

Being the second time pulling and reinstailling the transmission since I bought Project EF, my mechanical pace was much improved.  Had the trans back in during the few hours I had before work, and buttoned everything up later that night.
This is the most we get to see of the OS Giken differential, and that is only up unitl the axles get put back in.  It's funny how some of the best modifications that can be done to a car are often the ones that are rarely seen and will never win you a car show.
My good friends at Jackson Racing supplied their 1.4 bar high pressure radiator cap.  The higher the water pressure (within reason), the higher the boiling point.  Also running the water cooling system at higher PSI helps reduce or eliminate localized boiling in obscure sections of the water jackets or head.
GodSpeed Project also supplied their new heat reflective gold tape.  The AEM cold air intake received the full treatment to help reduce heat soak and high intake air temperatures.  Hawk eyed readers will notice the brake master reservoir got a small piece of the gold tape as well.
The newly installed Moroso baffled oil pan also got a decent amount of the GSP gold heat reflective tape where the header collector passes through.  The last pieces of the discontinued ARC stick on heat fins made it onto several spots of the pan as well.  Hopefully all these tricks working together can help contribute to the overall oil cooling picture.
With a small chance of rain leading up to the MPTCC race weekend at Willow Springs, I opted for this water repellent intake filter cover specific for the AEM DryFlow filter.  I've been on track in the rain when intake filters have gotten saturated with water and compromised performance, drivability, and engine safety.  So this was a small price to pay for some added insurance.
