PRI 2015: Part 1

,

The engine in the NASA/Elan NP01 is a sealed, Mazda MZR 2.0-liter with dry sump rated at 185 bhp. The tranny is a six-speed sequential Sadev S75 transaxle with an ACT clutch and 8-lb flywheel, and the brains of the car is even controlled by an AEM Infinity. The suspension is a fully adjustable system from Motion Control Suspension, and the total weight of the car is a feathery 1450 lb.

We visited JE Pistons, which showed us its new pistons for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost Ford Focus RS.

The pistons feature JE’s asymmetrical design, which has proven successful on both the street and in racing due to its strength and lightweight design. We've also had a set installed on our 800 WHP Project MKIV Supra for over 1.5 years now, and it's still going strong! In fact, I even checked compression within the last month, and all six cylinders are still within 8 PSI of each other.

These interesting looking pistons belong to the GM LT1 engine family, which was introduced in 2014 in the new Corvette. It’s got a direct-injection orientation (known as a “DI dish”), and we’re looking at high (11.5:1) compression versus low (9.5:1) for the left and right, respectively.

Whiteline had a presence at PRI 2015. Here we’re looking at its rear lower control arms, rear endlinks, and rear toe and anti-lift bushings for the Subaru Impreza and BRZ.
